This minigolf review is overdue and for that I apologize.
I strongly recommend the miniature golf at Hinkle Family Fun Center in Albuquerque. In general it is an easy course (I shot 5 or so hole in ones) but it's a good easy, that is if you shoot good shots good things happen. The holes have clean, simple and attractive designs but they don't get boring. It's also well kept enough that the different textures of green are consistent, which adds to the game. The contours are nicely done with an eye towards both aesthetics and the way they will play. There is not much in the way of theme, you've got your caves and your waterfalls, but nothing stupid (and I mean stupid in a nice way, I like pirates and dinosaurs).
One complaint I have though is that they have the multiple cups thing going. It looks like the idea is that they switch the cups around so if you play all the time it stays fresh - there are two or three cups on each hole and all put one are plugged with round stoppers... most of the time. Some holes had two cups and no special instructions so you can just shoot at whichever one ends up easiest for you. Also Hinkle had a weird threatening sign about holding patrons responsible for lost balls. Another problem - the whole second course is shut down for construction.
Hinkle offers a bunch of other stuff: movies, something with lazers, go carts, all kinds of junk. The putt putt's good though, if you're in the Quirk on a campaign stop or just stalking the Shins, check it out.
